If the most important elements in a
successful retail operation are location, location and location,
Todd Bracken has hit it big on all three counts. Two blocks from the
ocean in a quaint, colorful setting, the Third Street Promenade is a
happening place.
Four million visitors a year from around the
world come to the three block-long outdoor mall to mingle among the
dynamic collection of world-class stores, restaurants and
theaters.
Adding to the festive atmosphere is non-stop
entertainment by a collection of street performers and colorful
characters.
Bracken Jewelers would stand out in any
environment, both in appearance and content. It is modeled after the
great jewelers of 19th century Europe, where refinement of style,
quality and presentation were paramount.
Making Jewelry at Age
9
The store was founded in 1984 by Todd
Bracken, who began climbing the professional jewelry ladder at the
age of nine, learning to make jewelry in his father's store in
Illinois.
A wall of gemological degrees provides a
confident backdrop to the antique showcases filled with a tasteful
collection of original estate jewelry and fine collector watches.
Many of these pieces could qualify as museum exhibits.
Todd did not begin gathering this collection
of antiques on a whim. He has made a lifetime study of antique
jewelry and watches and the techniques used to make them - making
Bracken's an authority on restorations and appraisals.
It was Todd's lifetime fascination with
artifacts, museums and history that led to the design and creation
of a unique line of fine jewelry in which each piece appears to have
been crafted centuries ago.
High-Fashion
Clients
Todd and his workmasters have been producing
this jewelry not only for Bracken Jewelers, but also for prestigious
jewelry boutiques from Beverly Hills to New York.
Inside Bracken's, you're likely to rub elbows
with some of Hollywood's finest. Glamour queens from the past mingle
with modern rock stars. Linda Hamilton, a glamour queen of the
present, might be standing next to Jackson Browne.
It is the artists - regardless of medium -
who immediately notice Todd's work and are always stopping by to see
the latest additions.
One of the first things they check out is
Todd's growing California Gold collection. These unusual rings,
bracelets and necklaces are all made from natural 20-karat gold Todd
has recovered from the famous mines and streambeds where the 1849
Gold Rush began.
State of the Art
Equipment
Though Bracken's is guided by old-world
skills and ethics, the business is run with state of the art
equipment.
Computers, microscopes and the latest laser
welding technology enable the workmasters to produce products that
might make Carl Fabergé or Louis Tiffany jealous - especially the
workmanship!
So, although we are inviting you to examine
and purchase our jewelry through our website, we truly hope you will
also find an opportunity to visit Bracken Jewelers in person.
